Well Done Georgia and Ellie

egthumb
Georgia and Ellie.
Last week two young girls, Georgia and Ellie aged 11, took the initative to raise some funds for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary. These two young girls decided to do a sponsored bike ride, but not just any bike ride! They performed 40 laps of the estate where they live which covered a very impressive 10 miles! Before jumping on their bikes, they got together and went to all of thier neighbours and family to get sponsors and after completing the 40 laps they managed to raise £142.00 for the animals here at Bleakholt. All of the staff, dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, ponies, goats, rabbits and guinea pigs are hugely impressed and would like to say a huge thank you to the both of you. Thank You and Well Done Girls.

Bleakholt's Little Donkey's

juliathumb2We told you a little about some of the horses and ponies here at Bleakholt so we thought we'd say a little bit about our donkeys, and one of our regular volunteers, Julia, is going to say a small piece about them for us:
"We have 9 donkeys in total here at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary and Benny standing with me is our oldest at a very impressive 44 years of age this year. (Thats about 107 in our human years) and the two youngest are Dazzle and Oscar at only 10 years old. I come twice a week, normally on a Tuesday and a Saturday and groom and cuddle them and give them the TLC they all deserve after their life of neglect and in some cases abuse before coming here.  They love the attention I give them they also like to see all you vistors and will come to the fence to say hello. You can sponsor a donkey for as little as £15 a year and you will recieve a certificate of sponsorship with your chosen donkey on the front, it makes a lovely christmas or birthday present! Also if I'm in, when you visit I will get your sponsored donkey out for you to have little cuddle with and if I'm not in one of the staff here will be more than pleased to do the same. There is nothing like a cuddle with a donkey to bring you a little bit happiness in your day"
So now you've met our oldest donkey and one of our regular committed volunteers, why not come along one day and meet them. All of the donkeys here would love to meet you and have a big welcoming cuddle.
Martin. (Head of Stables)
