Animals details

If you are asking us to admit your animal you can fill in the online Admission Request Form. We recommend that you do print a copy of your application so that you can see how your information will be presented to our us. In addition this will be the admission documentation if and when we admit the animal. All it will need on admission is the addition of your signature and that of the staff member admitting the animal.

Animals belonging to a third party

If you are asking us to admit an animal belonging to another person you are welcome to fill in this form on their behalf but when the animal is admitted we will need the owner to be present when the animal comes in so that we can get their written authority to rehome the animal.
There are a small number of exceptions where we will accept the animal from a third party. For these purposes you can use the third party admission part of the form. If the owner is able to sign this form please ask them to do so. If they are not able to sign please enter brief details of their circumstances.

Stray dogs

This form cannot be used for stray dogs. If you have found a stray dog you need to contact the dog warden for your area. The telephone numbers for the local dog warden services are:

  • Bolton 01204 336500
  • Bury 0161 705 5564
  • Rochdale 01706647474
  • Rossendale 01706 244732
  • Manchester 0161 234 4929
  • Salford 0161 737 05512
  • Wigan 01942 705030
  • Chorley 01257 265611
  • Burnley 01282 779718 ext 135/136

If you are not in one of these areas you can get the number for your local dog warden from directory enquiries or by contacting your local Town Hall.
If you are looking for help with a stray dog outside normal working hours you should use the emergency service that can be accessed by phoning 0845 241 7253
Lead time before admission
Bleakholt always has a long waiting list for dogs and cats to be admitted so it is very unlikely that we will be able to admit your dog or cat immediately. The details that you give us will go to the Head of Dogs or Cats who will contact you as soon as there is room.

Bleakholt does not put to sleep any animal for reasons other than the best interest of the animal in question.

We do not put dogs or cats to sleep in order to make room for others, which is why we have to work from a waiting list. Once your animal is on the waiting list we will eventually be able to admit him or her. If you need help more quickly there are contact details for other rescue centres on our links page. We recommend that you put your animal on as many waiting lists as you can.

The more information you can give us the better it is for the animal, and in certain circumstances can accelerate the admission.
