On 14 September 2018 our Stable Section were happy to welcome the Association of Animal Artists which featured artist Lesley Humphrey hosting an art workshop for its members. It was a fantastic day and even the horrible weather didn’t dampen the spirits or creativity of the artists who came to take part.

A fantastic £600 was donated from the Association which will go a long to paying vets fees, farrier fees etc. Donkeys Hughie and Ana were our willing life art models in the afternoon and plenty of other animals took part whilst being sketched in the morning. Our star baker Emma made tasty art themed cakes and was a great host in the cafe.

Our two Stables Managers, Sheila and Nat, stayed for the critique of the paintings at the end of the day which they found really interesting. Lesley kindly donated her donkey sketch to us which we will be auctioning off in the near future. Artist Ruth Buchanan donated her chicken painting which (credit where it’s due) Madge the pig helped with as it blew into her enclosure! This will be raffled off at our Open Day on 30 September.

Nicola Ottley also donated some of her beautiful greetings cards to us which will also be for sale at our Open Day.

It was an amazing day enjoyed by all of the artists that took part and we’re looking forward to the next workshop!
