October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month: Could You Change a Life?

Every October, we celebrate Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, a time to shine a light on the wonderful dogs in rescue who are still waiting for their second chance.

Here at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, we have some truly incredible dogs who’ve been with us far longer than we’d like. Not because they’re any less loving or loyal, but because sometimes, life just hasn’t handed them the right opportunity yet.

Each of our longer-stay dogs has their own story.

Some came from homes that could no longer care for them, others were found abandoned or neglected. Many have faced uncertain pasts, yet they continue to greet us every morning with wagging tails and hopeful eyes.

They’re resilient, affectionate, and ready to love again, but they’re just waiting for the person who’ll see beyond their kennel door.

Throughout October, we’ll be introducing some of our beautiful longer-stay dogs across our social media channels and here on our website. Each of them has their own quirks, favourite toys, and special personalities, and all of them are hoping to find a home to call their own.

Whether it’s a cheeky Jack Russell who loves countryside walks, a gentle Staffy who thinks they’re a lap dog, or a big-hearted rescue who just needs patience and love, we promise you’ll meet some unforgettable faces.
