Each year, we care for over a thousand animals with many arriving with nothing but hope. The Shoebox Appeal gives our community the chance to remind them that they’re safe, valued and loved; not just at Christmas, but all year round.

Every shoebox donated saves us vital funds that can then be used toward veterinary treatment, heating, food supplies and emergency cases. In a year when costs continue to rise, these gifts make a real difference.

We are thrilled to announce the return of our much-loved Christmas Shoebox Appeal, bringing festive cheer to the animals who need it most. Each year, our supporters help us turn the sanctuary into a place of warmth, kindness and wagging tails and we’re hoping this year will be the biggest and brightest yet.

As winter settles in and the sanctuary grows busier, the Shoebox Appeal plays a vital role in ensuring every animal in our care receives comfort, enrichment and a little extra love over the festive season. From cosy blankets and treats to toys, food pouches and small-animal goodies, every donation helps us create a Christmas that our animals can feel.

The Shoebox Appeal is always an incredibly heartwarming part of our year. It’s amazing to watch supporters of all ages put so much thought and care into each box. The animals feel that love, and we can’t thank people enough.

How It Works:

  • Supporters can fill a shoebox (or any type of box!) with items suitable for dogs, cats, small/farm animals or stables.
  • Once packed and labelled with the intended animal category, shoeboxes can be dropped off at the sanctuary during our usual opening hours. Every item donated goes directly to the animals in our care, including those spending Christmas with us while waiting for their forever homes.

We invite individuals, families, schools, workplaces and community groups to take part. Whether you donate one box or twenty, you’re helping transform Christmas for an animal who truly deserves it.

Shoeboxes can be dropped off throughout December, and we’ll be sharing updates, photos and festive moments on our social media channels.
