COVID-19 UPDATE (14 May)

The Sanctuary must remain closed to visitors and volunteers and sadly, we are unable to say when we will reopen. As much as we normally love having visitors please do not try to come on site.

For anyone passing the Sanctuary who would like to drop off donations for our animals we have moved our donation shed to the top of our drive.

Following advice and guidelines from DEFRA and the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes, we are now in a position to resume the rehoming of some of the animals at the Sanctuary under certain conditions. This applies only to a very small number of animals that are confident with new people and would adapt well to a new home. The majority of our dogs will NOT be able to be rehomed this way, but we will start booking potential new homes in for appointments once we are able to do so.

If you would like to adopt any of our animals

If you are interested in a particular animal, please read that animal’s description before applying. If you think they may be suitable, please read our Lockdown Adoption Conditions and complete the appropriate Application Form which can be found on each of the Adoption pages (see menu options above).

We will contact you as soon as possible but please be aware that with no volunteers on site the staff are very busy caring for the animals, so please do bear with us. We may not get in touch about dogs until we are able to start booking in appointments.  Please be aware that full checks will still be made before we rehome an animal but they will differ from previous home checks.

What can you do to help?

We are losing over £55,000 a month in income!

The Sanctuary, Café, Charity Shops and Book shop are all closed and we cannot hold or attend fundraising events. We would like to thank everyone who has donated, sent messages of support and continued to help Bleakholt through this difficult time.

We still desperately need your support during the coming weeks and your donations have never been more important than they are now. Please help if you can and here’s how:

Please click here to donate through JustGiving

Please click here to donate via our Facebook page (we receive 100% of your donation)

Please click here to donate on our website

We will also continue to update our Amazon Wish List with items we need and please use Amazon Smile to order as they will donate money to us at no cost to you.

Here’s just a few things we are always in need of:

Chappie dog food – wet or dry

Whiskas Jelly Cat food – tins or pouches

Washing powder

Sardines – tinned in sunflower oil

Hot dogs in tins

Sponge Scourers

Once again, massive thank you for your continued support – we can’t do it without YOU.  We wish you all well, stay safe

and we look forward to seeing you again once we can reopen
