Good things come to those who wait – haymaking time finally arrived with the weather! And what a haymaking it’s been, with our biggest crop yet at 1,400 bales!

The team this year has been absolutely fantastic. The first night we didn’t finish until 1 a.m. and the second it was 9 p.m.! We’ve had volunteers, members of staff from the dog section, farm section and maintenance (Katie, Archie, Pete and our linchpin Dan), Sanctuary Manager Karen, as well as stable staff coming in on their day off and even new starters being thrown in at the deep end! The dedication has been second to none and we are so grateful to every single person who has helped in any way.

Hands are shredded, backs broken and all are exhausted, but through it all the camaraderie was excellent.

The horses, ponies, donkeys and mules now have a barn full of hay for the winter and we have made a fantastic saving on costs.

Wonderful Staff I’m sure you agree.
