What is “The North West’s Business Battle for Rescue Animals”?
The Business Battle is a 10-week fundraising competition where businesses from across the region compete to raise money for the animals at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary.
How you fundraise is entirely up to you. Whether you’re planning a bake sale, a charity football match, a sponsored challenge or something wonderfully ridiculous, every pound raised helps provide care, shelter and second chances to animals who
About Us
Founded in 1957, Bleakholt began as a small refuge for stray and unwanted animals. Over the decades, we now care for approximately 400 animals at one time – from farm and equine animals to cats, dogs, and small pets. Running the sanctuary costs approximately £1.6 million each year. As we receive no government funding, everything we do is made possible through donations, supporters, and partnerships.
Our Impact
Every day at Bleakholt, animals arrive needing safety, care, patience and a second chance. Thanks to our supporters, many go on to find loving forever homes, and those who find life-long refuge with us can continue receiving top notch care and endless love! Every animal matters, regardless of how long they stay with us, whether that’s a week, or a decade.

The Business Battle gives your CSR days a new purpose, with a twist! Instead of traditional volunteering at the sanctuary (which fills up fast every year), you can channel that time into fundraising challenges and team activities that directly support our work.
